What factory extras does my car have?

A factory extra is equipment the manufacturer fitted on the production line. A dealer-fitted accessory added later is a different thing.

What a build sheet is for

A build sheet lists the factory codes and descriptions for that vehicle. Dealers use it when the option changes the value of the car, or when the advert needs to say what was fitted at the factory.

The record is only as complete as the manufacturer data. If no build sheet is found, Factory X Extras is not charged.

How to use it in an appraisal

Read the free Motor X Checks vehicle report first for MOT history. Then decide whether a factory-extras check is worth running for that registration.

Factory X Extras is £4.49. Public purchasing is not switched on, so register interest from the vehicle checks page.

Questions

Is a factory extra the same as an accessory?

No. A factory extra was fitted by the manufacturer before delivery. An accessory can be added later by a dealer or an owner.

What if no factory data is found?

Factory X Extras is not charged when no data is found.
